Eating for peak performance

Sports nutrition is not a new concept, but it is not always implemented correctly. Often the reason behind this is that many athletes are unaware of what the ‘right’ foods are and the tremendous difference the correct nutrition could make to their performance. There is now no doubt that nutrition is one of the tools essential for the achievement of peak performance in sport. In this session athletes will have the opportunity to learn about:

  • Energy – where from? Discussion of the role of carbohydrate, protein and fat.
  • Training nutrition
  • Competition nutrition – before, during and after competition
  • Fluids and hydration- how much, what type and when
  • Sporty meals and snack ideas
  • Sports supplements and protein powders
  • This session will contain practical tips designed for your specific sport. Seminars for the junior athlete may also include calcium, iron and eating disorders.
